We know that learning is more than academics and curriculum. Our special events and activities give students that chance to learn outside of the classroom and to connect with each other outside of the classrooms. We offer Sports Tournaments in football, hockey and other events
Rotary Interact is a club in which students meet to learn new ways to give back to their communities through volunteer work and by supporting local charities. Bergen Center for Child Development is the first special education school in the nation to form an Interact Club. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Northern Valley, our Rotary Interact Club encourages students to give back to their communities as part of a worldwide network of students their own age. The class has focuses on service on Pascak Valley Meals on Wheels, making emergency kits for seniors, and other projects at local nursing homes.
Art Contests allow students to showcase their creative works, and be recognized for their achievements.
Concerts and Plays give students a chance to perform for family and friends.
Student Council gives students a chance to learn about civics and democracy in a hands-on way, as they make decisions about schoolwide issues. Students develop self advocacy skills as they organize each other and make decisions for themselves
Spring Social is held each May at a local catering hall. All students are encouraged to get dressed up and enjoy a day of dancing and singing together.
Awards Dinner allows students to be recognized for their achievements in front of friends and family.
