It's the Holiday Season!

Students met Santa and received holiday gifts

The holiday season has been a busy and exciting time at the Bergen Center! Our students and music therapist have been preparing for our holiday concert since the beginning of the school year, and on December 13, the event was finally held. Students and staff members showcased their musical talents both vocally and instrumentally for their families with a collection of classic holiday songs. Families then celebrated their performance and the holiday seasons with lunch. This is one of our favorite events of the year as it gives our families a unique chance to gather together and see our school in action. Guests were treated to extraordinary decorations along the halls of the school, with each classroom having a themed decorated door, competing for a pizza party. The winner, selected by our Board of Trustees, was Room 7, with elaborate Polar Express decorations, complete with train tracks on the floor.

The following week, as we winded down the calendar year, our music therapist and community based instruction team took some students and staff members down to CareOne in Cresskill, to sing carols and spread holiday cheer to the residents. Our Girl Scout troop even made ornaments to decorate the building. This was our second annual performance at the facility.

Students decorated their own gingerbread cookies

To cap off our holiday celebrations, the school held a gingerbread party this week. Students had the opportunity to decorate their own gingerbread cookies to take home and enjoy, among other gingerbread-themed crafts. The final day before winter break, our social worker Mr. Tyler took each class to bake and decorate their own sugar cookies.

We have had so much fun celebrating the holidays, and we wish all our students, staff, and their families a happy and healthy holiday break!
